250 Stray Dogs, Puppies Killed in Violation of Supreme Court Orders
In a village in India, about 250 stray dogs and puppies were killed by giving them strong injections that made them die.
This happened even though the highest court in India had said that stray dogs should be protected and taken care of, not killed.
The dogs were buried in big holes near a canal.
A woman who helps animals found out about this and told the police, but they haven't done anything about it yet.
Some people in the village say the dogs were bothering them, but others say it's wrong to kill them like this.
The woman who helps animals says the village should use their money to take care of the dogs instead of killing them.
250 stray dogs and puppies were killed with lethal injections in violation of Supreme Court orders.
The dogs were buried in three pits near the Polavaram Right Main canal in Velagaleru village.
A villager noticed the pits and alerted an animal rights activist, Pasumarthi Eswari.
The activist lodged a complaint at the G Konduru police station, but no case has been registered.
Villagers argue they were suffering from the stray dogs, while activists say the killing violates rules and could pollute the Godavari water.
