State Government to Advance Salaries for Employees
The state government in West Bengal is giving its employees their salaries early this month, before the Durga Puja festival.
This means they'll get their money a bit sooner than usual, between September 24th and 25th.
Also, pensions and other allowances will be paid out before October 1st.
The government is doing this to help people during the holidays and seems to be responding to a similar move by the central government for its employees in the state.
This is an unusual move as salaries aren't usually paid so early.
The timing, ahead of the festival and next year's elections, is influencing the decision.
