Bengal Plans Job-Linked Industry Incentives to Attract Investment

Bengal Plans Job-Linked Industry Incentives to Attract Investment

The Bengal government wants to encourage companies to set up businesses and hire more people.

Companies that create more jobs could receive more help from the government.

Businesses in some less-developed districts may get extra support.

That help could include paying part of workers’ provident-fund costs, lower electricity duties and assistance with roads and permits.

The plan still needs approval from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

A law passed in 2025 cancelled earlier incentive promises, so the government may need to repeal it before starting the new plan.

Repealing it could mean the state has to pay about ₹20,000 crore in old incentives.

The government also needs to explain how land will be arranged for investors.
