Smriti Irani Defends Davos, Highlights Alliance for Global Good
Smriti Irani, who used to be a minister, wrote about why Davos is important.
She said it's not just a meeting, but a place where people from all over the world come together to talk about big issues.
Three years ago, she started something called the Alliance for Global Good.
This group works to help women be more involved in the economy and to make sure everyone has a fair chance.
They've talked to lots of people and made reports about important topics like health and the environment.
One of their big projects is called SPARK, which helps women start their own businesses.
They've also worked on things like making a cheap and effective way to help mothers after giving birth.
This year at Davos, they had a special place called the WE Lead Lounge where important people talked about these issues.
They also announced some big plans, like a $40 million project for women's health and a $100 million fund to help women start businesses.
Smriti Irani said that Davos is valuable because it brings together all kinds of people to talk about how to make the world better.
She believes that the real work happens after Davos, when these ideas are turned into real changes.
Smriti Irani defends Davos as a catalyst for global attention and action.
The Alliance for Global Good, founded three years ago, focuses on women's economic participation and inclusive growth.
The Alliance has engaged with over 5,000 international delegations and collaborated with more than 12,000 industry stakeholders.
Key initiatives include the SPARK Initiative to enable 100,000 women entrepreneurs and a $1 postpartum haemorrhage drape protocol for maternal health.
This year's Davos engagements included the WE Lead Lounge, a $40-million commitment from Laila Nutraceuticals, and a $100-million SPARK Fund for women-led enterprises.
