Sikkim CM Reviews Ethnographic Study for 12 Communities
The government in Sikkim is working on a study about 12 different groups of people.
They want to help these groups be recognized as Scheduled Tribes, which gives them certain rights and protections.
The Chief Minister had a meeting to check on the progress of these reports, which explain the history and culture of each group.
The goal is to finish these reports and send them to the Indian government so the groups can hopefully get the ST status.
This will recognize and celebrate the unique identities of the communities.
Sikkim's CM chaired a final review meeting regarding ethnographic reports.
The reports concern 12 communities seeking Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
Comprehensive documentation of the 12 communities' history and culture was created.
The reports aim to meet criteria for ST inclusion, addressing past queries.
The CM aims to submit finalized reports to the Indian government soon.
