Panvel Proposes 20 Senior Citizen Recreation Centres
The Panvel Municipal Corporation wants to build 20 special places for older adults to hang out, play games, and stay healthy.
They will be in different parts of the city, like Kalamboli and Kharghar.
The city will fix up old buildings to use as these centres.
They will have books, games like carrom and chess, and even health check-ups.
The city will ask older adults what they want and then let local groups run the centres.
This way, older adults can meet friends, have fun, and stay healthy together.
Panvel Municipal Corporation proposes 20 recreation centres for senior citizens across the city.
Approval for the project is sought at the general body meeting on July 22.
Centres will be distributed across various nodes, with Kalamboli having the most (6) and other areas like Kharghar, New Panvel, and Kamothe also receiving multiple centres.
Facilities will include libraries, indoor games, health check-up camps, and wellness programs.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed within six months after approval, with management to be handed over to local senior citizens' groups.
