Modi Calls BRICS Mature, Urges Tangible Outcomes and Reform

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed leaders and representatives to the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

He thanked them for helping India lead BRICS during 2026.

BRICS is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Modi said the group is like a 20-year-old person starting a more mature and responsible stage.

He said BRICS countries should use their agreement to achieve practical results.

He suggested a system to track decisions even when the presidency changes each year.

He also proposed a secure digital record showing who is responsible for each decision and how it is progressing.

Modi said BRICS should help reform global decision-making.

The countries eventually agreed on a joint statement after long negotiations.
