Child tried as adult gets life term for woman's murder, rape
A young man, now 25 years old, was tried as an adult and given a life sentence for a very serious crime.
He hurt and killed an older woman in 2017.
The court decided he should be tried as an adult because he was over 16 when the crime happened.
His mom had asked the court to cancel his bail earlier because he was drinking too much and hurting his family.
The court said he has problems with older women and might hurt them again if he is let out.
So, they decided he needs to stay in jail to learn to be better.
The jail will give him a job and school while he is there, and the court will check on him every year to see if he is improving.
A 25-year-old child in conflict with law (CCL) was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a 60-year-old woman in 2017.
The court noted that the CCL has a grudge against old ladies and a feeling of hate towards them, which contributed to the crime.
The mother of the CCL filed a bail cancellation application in 2018, citing his alcoholism and physical abuse towards family members.
The Juvenile Justice Board decided to try the CCL as an adult offender in 2018, and the case was sent to the sessions court.
The court directed that the CCL be provided employment and education during his sentence and that his reformation be assessed yearly.
