Fake Currency Seizures Hit Seven-Year High in 2026

Fake Currency Seizures Hit Seven-Year High in 2026

The Border Security Force found fake Indian money worth Rs 65.25 lakh in the first six months of 2026.

This was much more than the amount found during all of 2025.

It was also the highest amount recorded in the available seven-year period.

The BSF is checking border areas more closely to stop fake notes from moving.

West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir were identified as important areas linked to supplies.

Fake money can be connected to organized crime and possible terror financing.

However, finding more fake money does not automatically mean more fake money is circulating.

It may also mean that authorities are becoming better at finding it.
