High Court Questions Delhi Police on Surveillance of CJP Protesters
A court in Delhi is asking the police if they are following the rules about watching people during a protest.
A group called CJP is protesting at Jantar Mantar, and someone named Aishe Ghosh said the police are taking too many pictures and videos of the protesters, even when they are just eating or resting.
The police said they are only doing this for safety reasons.
The court wants to know if the police are following the rules made by a higher court in 2017.
The next time they will talk about this is tomorrow.
Delhi High Court is hearing a petition alleging surveillance of CJP protesters at Jantar Mantar.
Petitioner Aishe Ghosh claims protesters are subjected to continuous photography and videography.
Supreme Court's 2017 ruling established guidelines for lawful and proportionate surveillance.
Delhi Police argues that recording is for law and order, not surveillance.
Next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
