Apple Replaced OpenAI With Google Gemini for New Siri

Apple Replaced OpenAI With Google Gemini for New Siri

Apple had connected ChatGPT to Siri, but the feature was turned off unless users enabled it themselves.

Turning it on required several steps in the iPhone’s settings.

OpenAI reportedly became worried that Apple might choose another company to help improve Siri more quickly.

Apple later made a deal with Google to use Gemini models for Siri.

The deal was reached in January, according to the report.

In September 2026, Apple released the new Google-backed Siri AI in English as a public beta.

OpenAI considered taking Apple to court.

The possible lawsuit was linked to claims that Apple did not fulfill promises in its original agreement with OpenAI.
