Assam CM Announces Flood Rehabilitation Drive
Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said the state is moving from emergency help to rebuilding after big floods.
He gave 75,000 families money to help them start again.
The floods happened because a lot more rain fell than usual.
He is staying in the flooded areas for four days to check on relief camps and road repairs.
The government plans to fix roads, bridges, and power lines and help everyone get back to normal life.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced shift from emergency response to rehabilitation after Upper Assam floods.
Over 75,000 families received Rs 15,000 each via Direct Benefit Transfer, totaling about Rs 160 crore in interim relief.
Floods were caused by roughly 400% excess rainfall upstream, affecting districts that rarely flood.
Sarma is staying on the ground for four days to supervise relief camps, infrastructure repair, and family support.
Government plans systematic rebuilding of damaged public infrastructure and full rehabilitation of affected districts.
