Shubman Gill’s Advice Opens New Cricket Opportunity for Kirandeep Singh
Kirandeep Singh started playing cricket with a tennis ball when he was very young.
He played at a government school ground in his village near Mohali.
He did not have much money or access to proper cricket training.
In 2025, Shubman Gill saw him bowl and told him to start using a leather ball.
Gill also offered to help if Kirandeep needed anything.
That advice gave Kirandeep confidence and encouraged him to work harder.
Kirandeep was later bought by Fazilka Falcons for ₹20,000.
He will now play in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League alongside Gill and learn from experienced cricketers.
Shubman Gill advised Mohali youngster Kirandeep Singh to switch from tennis-ball cricket to leather-ball cricket in 2025.
Kirandeep began playing tennis-ball cricket at age seven or eight and lacked formal coaching and mentorship.
The 20-year-old says financial hardship forced him to work as an umpire to support his diet and cricket expenses.
Fazilka Falcons bought Kirandeep for ₹20,000 at the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 auction.
Kirandeep will play under Gill and hopes to learn from experienced players while proving Gill’s faith in him was justified.
