Commerce Department Seeks Five-Year RoDTEP Extension for Exporters

Commerce Department Seeks Five-Year RoDTEP Extension for Exporters

The government has a program called RoDTEP that helps exporters get back some taxes and duties included in their costs.

The Commerce Department wants to keep this program for five more years.

The program is currently set to end on September 30, 2026.

Government officials are discussing the proposal with the Department of Expenditure.

RoDTEP refunds between 0.3% and 3.9% of the value of eligible exports.

Many small and medium-sized exporters rely on this support.

Exporters say a longer program would help them plan prices and investments.

They also want more certainty because of tariff changes and the West Asia crisis.
