Indian Railways to Implement Aadhaar for Online Reservations
Imagine you want to buy a train ticket online.
Starting October 1st, 2025, the Indian Railways will ask you to prove who you are using your Aadhaar card when booking tickets through the IRCTC website or app during the first 15 minutes after reservations open.
This is to make sure real people get the tickets and prevent anyone from using fake identities.
You can still book tickets at the railway counters without this change.
If you want to book early, it's a good idea to set up your Aadhaar ahead of time.
This new rule is similar to the existing one for agents.
Indian Railways is implementing Aadhaar-based authentication for online reservations.
This change affects bookings through the IRCTC website and mobile app.
It starts on October 1st, 2025, during the initial 15 minutes of booking.
Bookings at railway counters will not be affected by this change.
Passengers are advised to complete Aadhaar authentication in advance.
