Andhra Pradesh Approves Surgeries by Ayurvedic Doctors
The government of Andhra Pradesh has allowed Ayurvedic doctors who have completed special training in surgery to perform certain operations on their own.
This decision was made to improve healthcare services, especially in areas where modern medical facilities are not easily available.
The doctors can now do 39 types of surgeries related to general surgery and 19 types related to ear, nose, throat, and eye surgeries.
These include fixing wounds, treating piles, removing tumors, and doing cataract surgeries.
The government is also setting up better training and equipment in Ayurvedic colleges to make sure everything is safe and of high quality.

Doctors trained in Shalya Tantra (General Surgery) can perform 39 surgical procedures.
Doctors specializing in Shalakya Tantra (ENT and Ophthalmology) can perform 19 procedures.
Procedures include wound suturing, treatment of piles, excision of tumors, cataract and tonsil surgeries, and muscle repair.
Move aims to improve access to specialist services in rural and underserved regions.
