Parliament Adjourned Amidst Opposition Protests and Sloganeering
The Indian Parliament had a tough day as members argued over something called the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Because of the disagreements, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had to stop their meetings early.
Lawmakers from different parties were shouting and holding up signs, which made it hard to have a proper discussion.
The people in charge of the meetings asked everyone to be calm and follow the rules, but the arguments continued.
Some important bills were supposed to be talked about, like one about seats for certain groups in Goa and another about shipping rules, but the arguing got in the way.
Opposition protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls led to the adjournment of both Houses of Parliament.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and RS Deputy Chairman Harivansh urged members to maintain decorum and participate in discussions.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned after less than seven minutes due to continued protests and sloganeering.
In the Rajya Sabha, discussions on the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill were disrupted.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal criticized the Opposition for not allowing discussions.
