DMK Reiterates Delimitation Opposition; Tamil Nadu CM Calls MPs

DMK Reiterates Delimitation Opposition; Tamil Nadu CM Calls MPs

The Indian government wanted to redraw the lines that divide the country into voting areas, called constituencies.

This process is called delimitation.

The government planned to use information from a big count of people called the 2011 Census.

Some people say this could increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha from 543 to 850.

The DMK, a big political party in Tamil Nadu, thinks this plan is unfair.

The party says the older 1971 Census should be used for the next 25 years.

The party also wants every state to get more seats at the same time.

Earlier, many opposition parties worked together to stop a bill about this in April.

Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Vijay has now called a meeting with the state's MPs to talk about it.

The DMK says it will keep opposing the plan.
