Leaked PS6 and Xbox Helix GPU Specs Suggest Xbox Edge
Reports say Sony and Microsoft are working on new game consoles.
The PlayStation 6 may produce about 40 TFLOPS of graphics power.
Microsoft’s next Xbox, called Helix, may produce up to 56 TFLOPS.
That would make the Xbox number look higher on paper.
However, these figures come from a leak and are not official.
TFLOPS is only one way to measure a console’s graphics ability.
Other parts, such as memory, cooling, processors, and software, can affect how games actually run.
Sony and Microsoft have not announced final specifications for either console.
Leaked reports claim Sony’s PlayStation 6 GPU could deliver about 40 TFLOPS.
Microsoft’s next Xbox, codenamed Helix, is reportedly capable of up to 56 TFLOPS.
The alleged Xbox figure would be 16 TFLOPS, or about 40%, higher on paper.
Both graphics chips reportedly use AMD’s RDNA 5 architecture and have reached tape-out.
TFLOPS alone cannot predict gaming performance because memory, architecture, clocks, ray tracing, CPUs, and thermals also matter.
