India-Israel hackathon turns student ideas into healthcare inventions

Students from India and Israel took part in a big technology contest called a hackathon.

The contest was about "Restorative Healthcare," which means helping people get better after injuries or illness.

Students from both countries worked together in mixed teams on 14 different problems.

The problems came from hospitals, start-ups and universities in both countries.

A winning team in Israel built a special tool for wheelchairs that moves a person's leg when the wheel turns.

That tool needs no electricity and is low-cost, so it can help with rehabilitation.

A winning team in India built a computer system that watches an injured patient's movements using video.

The system compares the patient's movements with healthy people to track recovery and help doctors plan treatment.

India's ambassador to Israel gave prizes to the winners.

Some of the ideas may be tested further and could even become real products.
