Namma Metro Reduces Hebbal Land Use Due to Pressure
The company building the Namma Metro train system in Bangalore, India, had to change its plans for a new station.
They originally wanted a large area of land, about the size of 45 acres, to build a place to store and maintain the trains.
But, after facing some problems, like disagreements over the land and pressure from other projects, they had to reduce the land they needed.
They now only need 9 acres.
The company also faced pressure from real estate developers and there were also disagreements about who owned the land.
BMRCL scaled down land use at Hebbal from 45 to 9 acres.
The decision followed logistical, political, and real estate pressures.
Initially, BMRCL planned a hub with a depot, parking, and transit facilities.
BBMP proposed the same land for a 14-km Hebbal tunnel road.
A legal dispute and real estate developers opposed BMRCL's plans.
