AGNI Recommends VVPAT with QR Codes for Transparent Municipal Elections
A group called AGNI, which works for good governance in India, has suggested some changes to make future municipal elections in Mumbai more transparent and trustworthy.
They want machines called VVPAT with QR codes to be used so that voters can verify their votes and there is a clear record.
AGNI also said that voting slips should be given to people at least two weeks before the election day so they can check for any mistakes.
They mentioned that voters faced many problems during the last elections, like not getting their voting slips on time, not knowing where to vote, and having to travel far to reach their polling booths.
AGNI has also suggested other improvements like setting up CCTV cameras at polling booths, having more staff to manage crowds, and providing special lines for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
These changes aim to make the voting process smoother and more accessible for everyone.
AGNI recommended VVPAT with QR codes to improve transparency and voter confidence in municipal elections.
Voting slips should be distributed at least two weeks before polling day to allow for error correction.
Voters reported issues such as non-receipt of voting slips, misinformation, inconvenient polling locations, and technical glitches.
AGNI suggested improvements including CCTV monitoring, enhanced crowd management, and priority access for senior citizens and differently-abled voters.
The goal is to create a smoother, more transparent, and voter-friendly election process.
