Musk Pledges to Donate Wealth After AI Remark

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has agreed to donate a significant portion of his wealth to charity.

This comes after a challenge from Nobel Prize-winning economist Daron Acemoglu.

Acemoglu suggested that if Musk believes money won't matter in 2036 due to advancements in AI, he should donate his current wealth of about $1 trillion to charity by then.

Musk responded positively, saying he would do something along these lines.

This pledge is seen as a way to ease concerns about the influence of billionaires and trillionaires.

Musk has previously questioned the effectiveness of high-profile charitable donations, including those made by MacKenzie Scott, who has donated over $26 billion.

The Musk Foundation, which had assets worth about $14 billion by the end of 2025, has been criticized for directing much of its funding to organizations closely linked to Musk's business interests.
