CPI(M) accuses Andhra government of delaying Budameru flood safeguards

The CPI(M) says the government has not done enough to stop Budameru from flooding again.

It held a protest in Vijayawada to demand stronger flood protections.

The party says floods in 2024 caused many deaths and forced nearly three lakh people to leave their homes.

It says more than one lakh families suffered serious losses.

The government had proposed a large plan costing Rs 5,222 crore, but the plan has reportedly not been approved.

The plan would make the water channel bigger and add canals, walls and reservoirs.

CPI(M) leaders say only smaller repairs have been carried out.

They want Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to review the work and release the money.
