Deepak Fertiliser net profit drops 44%
Deepak Fertilisers, a big company that makes chemicals and fertilisers, recently shared its financial results.
Their profit went down by 44% compared to last year, which means they earned less money.
However, their total sales went up by 10%.
The company faced some challenges in their chemical and fertiliser businesses due to higher costs and bad weather.
They also decided to close down an old plant that wasn't being used.
Despite these problems, they are hopeful for better sales in the future because of good rainfall.
The company is also looking to use the land from the closed plant for new, more sustainable projects.
Deepak Fertilisers reported a 44% year-on-year decrease in net profit to ₹141.4 crore for the December quarter.
Revenues increased by 10% to ₹2,830.07 crore, but EBITDA fell by 27% to ₹353 crore.
Higher raw material costs and lower offtake significantly impacted profitability.
The chemical segment faced challenges, with a 26% decline in industrial chemicals sales volumes and a 20% decrease in IPA revenues.
The company's board approved the permanent closure and dismantling of its 300 TPD methanol plant.
