China's Former Climate Envoy to Meet with EU to Boost Climate Talks
China's former climate leader, Xie Zhenhua, is meeting with the EU's environment chief in Brussels.
They're talking about climate change and how to make things better.
The goal is to get countries to agree on bigger goals to fight climate change before a big meeting in Brazil.
Xie and the EU official will discuss how to encourage countries, including the EU and China, to announce better plans for reducing pollution.
This is important because the U.N. wants countries to do more to protect the planet.
The upcoming climate summit in Brazil might not have as many people, so the meeting is hoping to give it a boost.
Xie Zhenhua will meet with EU's Teresa Ribera to discuss climate goals.
The meeting aims to boost the upcoming COP30 climate summit in Brazil.
The UN is pressuring major economies to set more ambitious climate plans.
China is expected to announce its new NDC by September 24.
