Rain Threat Looms Over India-Sri Lanka First Test

When two countries play a special kind of cricket game called a Test match, they play for five days in a row.

India and Sri Lanka are about to play their first Test match against each other, starting August 15 in Galle, a city in Sri Lanka near the sea.

But there is a big problem: the weather forecast says it might rain on all five days.

When it rains, players have to stop and wait, so the game could be cut short.

That matters because the teams are competing in the World Test Championship, where every point helps them reach the final.

This game is extra special because it will be India's 600th Test match ever, and the 50th Test at this stadium.

India's captain is Shubman Gill, and his team is hoping to bounce back after some tough Test losses.

India have nine matches left in the championship and may need to win at least six of them to reach the final in London.

Both teams hope the rain stays away so they can play all five days and earn the points they need.
