Dehing Patkai Records 165 Butterfly Species, Including 37 Endangered

Scientists and officials found 165 kinds of butterflies in Dehing Patkai National Park.

Thirty-seven of these butterflies are endangered.

This means they may disappear if their habitats are not protected.

The park has forests where many plants and animals live together.

Protecting connected forests gives butterflies and other wildlife safer places to survive.

The park is in Assam’s Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

It covers 234.26 square kilometres and is part of a larger elephant reserve.

Officials say every species, from elephants to tiny butterflies, helps keep nature healthy.
