Supreme Court Reinstates Veena Kumar as AHVS Director
Imagine there's a boss of a department, like the head of animal care.
First, Veena was the boss, but then someone else, Nitin, was chosen.
Veena thought she should still be the boss because she's been there the longest.
She went to court to get her job back.
The Supreme Court decided Veena should be the boss again, at least for now, until they can figure everything out.
Veena is retiring soon.
The court is still deciding who should be the boss permanently.
The Supreme Court reinstated Veena Kumar as the officiating director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.
Kumar was initially appointed but later replaced by Nitin Naik following a note from the minister.
The Supreme Court suspended the order that appointed Naik and directed Kumar's immediate reinstatement.
Kumar claimed to be the seniormost officer and is due to retire on September 30.
The High Court previously dismissed Kumar's petition, finding no merit in her claim.
