Artist Sells Invisible Sculpture for Over $18,000
Imagine an artist selling something you can't see!
That's what Salvatore Garau did when he sold his invisible sculpture, "Io Sono", for a lot of money.
The buyer got a certificate, but no actual object.
The artist says it exists in your mind and is made of energy.
This happened at a time when people were buying digital art, like pictures, for millions.
Some people think it's a clever idea that makes you think about art, while others think it's silly.
It's like deciding if a dream or a thought can be worth something!
Italian artist Salvatore Garau sold an 'invisible sculpture' titled "Io Sono" for over $18,000.
The artwork consists of a certificate of authenticity and is meant to be displayed in a 5-by-5-foot private space.
The artist believes the sculpture exists in the viewer's imagination and is made of "air and spirit."
The sale coincided with the rise of NFTs and a growing interest in owning immaterial assets.
Critics are divided, with some hailing the work as conceptual and others dismissing it as a publicity stunt.
