President Murmu presents Handloom Awards at 12th National Handloom Day

A very special day happened in India called National Handloom Day.

Handloom means making cloth like sarees and fabrics by hand on a wooden loom, instead of using big machines.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, gave special prizes called awards to weavers who make beautiful cloth.

Some weavers got the Sant Kabir Awards and others got the National Handloom Awards.

The ceremony happened at a big cultural centre in the President's house.

Four special stamps about weaving were also released to celebrate.

The President said weaving is very important to India's history and culture.

She said weavers should learn to use new technology like computers and the internet.

This will help them sell their cloth to more people.

She also said young people should be encouraged to keep learning this beautiful craft.
