101-Year-Old Freedom Fighter Seeks Pension After Death Error

Nadar Singh is 101 years old and says he fought for India’s freedom.

He says he served with the Indian National Army.

He came to India from Pakistan after Partition.

His family lost important documents in a fire many years ago.

These documents made it harder to prove who he was and what he had done.

The government in Fatehabad mistakenly recorded him as dead about three years ago.

A village memorial later also wrongly called him “Late.”

Singh went to the memorial himself to show that he was alive.

He is now asking officials to recognize him and give him the pension he says he deserves.
