Gujarat Suspends Himmatnagar Urban Development Authority Formation
The Gujarat government has decided to stop the creation of a new urban development area called HUDA in Himmatnagar.
This area would have included 11 nearby villages.
The government first announced this plan in November 2023 and shared a draft in September 2025.
However, the villagers were worried because they thought they might lose their farmland without getting any money for it.
They also believed that their small town was not like big cities and didn't need such a big change.
After the villagers protested, the government listened to their concerns and decided to pause the plan for now.
A group of ministers and village representatives met with the Deputy Chief Minister, who then announced the suspension of the HUDA formation.
