Tribal Students Protest Unsafe, Overcrowded Hostels in Ujjain
About 100 tribal students went to the Collector’s office in Ujjain to ask for safer hostels.
They said the Agar Road hostel has leaking ceilings and falling plaster.
They worry the building could be unsafe and that the leaks interfere with studying.
Students also said the Nagjhiri boys’ hostel is in a private building and has too little space.
It has 28 beds and six toilets, according to the students.
They want a new building near Samrat Vikramaditya University and room for more students.
They said about Rs 4 crore had been approved for the new hostel, but work had not moved forward.
Officials said they would inspect the hostels within two days.
