Shehzad Poonawalla Explains BJP Exit Amid Financial Pressures

Shehzad Poonawalla left the BJP after working full-time for the party.

He said he was having trouble paying rent and other living expenses.

He explained that political parties do not pay regular salaries to their workers or spokespersons.

His political work also left him little time to earn money elsewhere.

Poonawalla said he comes from a middle-class family and does not have inherited wealth to rely on.

He said he had been thinking about leaving since 2024.

Party leaders spoke with him and asked him to consider other options.

He decided to resign because he did not find a workable alternative.

He plans to look for a private-sector job while still supporting the BJP’s ideas and the prime minister’s vision.
