ISC pupils advised to focus equally on all subjects
Starting in 2027, students in Class XI under the ISC board will need to pass English and four other subjects to clear their exams.
This is a change from the previous rule where passing English and three subjects was enough.
Schools are now advising students to give equal attention to all subjects and not focus only on a few.
They are also encouraging students to take six subjects instead of five or four.
This change is because the council has made new rules about how students are passed and promoted.
Students, especially those in the science stream, are being told to be thorough with all subjects as they can no longer pick and choose which ones to focus on.
The first batch to appear for these new exams will also have the option to choose applied math and modern English.
ISC students from 2027 onwards must pass English and four subjects to clear exams, up from three subjects previously.
Schools are advising students to give equal attention to all subjects and not focus selectively on a few.
Students are encouraged to take six subjects for better flexibility in percentage calculation.
The change in passing criteria is due to new rules by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
Science students, who previously focused on three subjects, must now be thorough with all subjects due to higher-order thinking questions in exams.
