Texas H-1B Demand Surges Despite Nationwide Foreign-Worker Decline

Texas H-1B Demand Surges Despite Nationwide Foreign-Worker Decline

Some grown-ups from other countries come to work in the United States using a special permit called an H-1B.

People who study these permits looked at millions of them over several years.

They found that fewer companies across America were asking for these workers.

But in the state of Texas, more companies wanted them.

The biggest increase happened in suburban areas near big cities.

In fact, the eight places in the whole country where demand grew the most were all in Texas.

All of those places are represented by Republican members of Congress.

That is surprising because people often think Republicans do not want foreign workers.

The study looked at 6.9 million forms called Labor Condition Applications.

It compared the years 2019 and 2025 to see how things changed.
