Delhi LG Approves Action Against Fire Officials for Negligence in Basement Deaths
In New Delhi, three students sadly died because a basement study area in a coaching center flooded after heavy rain.
It turns out this basement was being used as a library, which it wasn't supposed to be; it was only for parking and storage.
Two fire department officials allegedly knew this wasn't safe, but they wrote a false report saying it was okay to use it as a library.
Because of this, the top leader in Delhi, the Lieutenant Governor, has decided to take disciplinary action against these two officials.
They were already suspended after the incident and are now facing formal proceedings for their mistakes and for not telling the truth about the unsafe conditions.
Delhi LG V.K. Saxena has approved disciplinary action against two senior Delhi Fire Services officials.
The officials, Divisional Officer Vedpal and Assistant Divisional Officer Udayveer Singh, are accused of negligence and submitting a false report.
They allegedly allowed a basement to be illegally used as a library, despite it being designated only for parking and storage.
