Rajasthan Governor Returns Honour Killing Bill
The Governor of Rajasthan, Haribhau Bagade, sent back a law that was made to stop honour killings.
This law was created when the previous government, led by Ashok Gehlot, was in charge.
The Governor said the law is not needed because some parts of it are about old rules that have been removed.
He also said that a new rule, called BNS Section 103, already punishes people for murder, which includes honour killings.
So, the Governor thinks the new rule is enough to handle these cases.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade returned the honour killing Bill passed by the previous Congress government.
The Bill was introduced during the 2018–23 tenure of Ashok Gehlot's government.
The Governor stated that the Bill deals with repealed sections of the IPC and CrPC.
The state government believes BNS Section 103 is sufficient to address honour killings.
BNS Section 103 punishes murder with death or life imprisonment, plus a fine.
