SC Stays FIR, SIT Order on Kullu Officials
The Supreme Court of India recently stopped a decision made by the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The High Court had ordered the registration of police reports (FIRs) and the creation of a special investigation team (SIT) against three senior officials in Kullu district.
These officials were accused of allowing large rave parties to happen, which involved drugs and alcohol.
The Supreme Court said the officials should still be transferred to different jobs, but they did not agree with the High Court's decision to investigate the officials.
The High Court had been monitoring the issue of rave parties since July 2025 and found that the officials had not done enough to stop these parties.
The Supreme Court will hear more about this case on August 10, 2026.
The Supreme Court stayed the Himachal Pradesh High Court's order for FIRs and SIT against Kullu officials.
The High Court had directed the transfer of three officials and the registration of FIRs over alleged facilitation of rave parties.
The Supreme Court allowed the transfer of officials to remain in force but stayed the FIR and SIT directions.
The High Court observed that the officials had failed to maintain public order and facilitated rave parties.
The proceedings stem from a suo motu PIL initiated by the High Court in July 2025 over rave parties in Kullu district.
