Government Says 7.8% GDP Growth Rewrites Opposition’s Economic Narrative

India’s economy grew by 7.8 percent from April to June.

Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said this was proof that the government’s economic work was succeeding.

He also said the result challenged the Opposition’s negative comments about the economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indians for their hard work and determination.

He said the growth happened even while wars, supply problems, and global crises were affecting many countries.

Modi also criticized people he said were spreading discouragement in India.

The government says the country should keep growing at this pace.

The Opposition’s earlier criticism included describing India’s economy as a “dead economy.”
