Maharashtra Education Officers to Strike Over Arrests
Some education officers in Maharashtra, India, are going on strike.
They are upset because one of their colleagues, Ravindra Katolkar, was arrested.
The officers think the arrest is unfair and connected to a scam called the Shalarth ID scam.
They wrote a letter to the Chief Minister and other important people to explain their concerns.
The strike will start on January 19.
The All Maharashtra Education Service Gazetted Officers Association will go on strike from January 19 over the arrest of officers in the Shalarth ID scam.
The Association objected to the arrest of Yavatmal education officer Ravindra Katolkar in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other officials.
The strike is protested against what they call the 'unjust' arrest of officers connected to the alleged Shalarth ID scam.
The letter was addressed to the Chief Minister, deputy chief ministers, school education and sports minister, and other officer bearers.
The Association announced the strike on Thursday, expressing their concerns over the 'atmosphere of arrest, interrogation, and intimidation'.
