SDAL Tests Hybrid Drone & Counter-Drone Systems in India
A company called SDAL tested a new drone called Rudrastra, which can take off and land vertically like a helicopter, at the Pokharan Firing Range.
The drone flew a long distance and successfully used a special weapon.
SDAL also tested a system named Bhargavastra that uses small rockets to shoot down enemy drones.
These developments are part of India's efforts to create its own defense technology.
Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) successfully trialed its Hybrid VTOL UAV Rudrastra at the Pokharan Firing Range.
The trial met the Indian Army's performance parameters, including VTOL and high endurance.
The UAV demonstrated a mission radius of over 50 km and a total range exceeding 170 km.
A precision-guided anti-personnel warhead was successfully deployed during the trial.
SDAL also tested the 'Bhargavastra' counter-drone system, which uses micro-rockets.
