IndusInd Bank Probes Accounting Errors Following Whistleblower Complaint
IndusInd Bank is checking its financial records after someone reported possible mistakes.
They found they wrongly recorded some interest payments and are correcting it.
There are also questions about how the bank handled other assets and liabilities.
The bank's internal team and an audit firm are looking into it to make sure everything is correct and that there were no hidden problems or bad actions.
It started because someone inside the bank wrote a letter to authorities, raising concerns about these issues.
IndusInd Bank disclosed a Rs 674 crore error in its microfinance loan book related to incorrectly recorded interest.
A whistleblower complaint triggered the investigation into 'other assets' and 'other liabilities'.
The bank reversed unsubstantiated balances of Rs 595 crore in 'other assets'.
The bank is also investigating potential non-performing asset (NPA) concerns and possible collusion.
The issues came to light after a whistleblower letter raised concerns to RBI and the board.
