Maharashtra Launches Mahakhanij 2.0 Against Illegal Mining

Maharashtra has started a new online system called Mahakhanij 2.0.

It is designed to stop people from mining small minerals illegally.

These minerals include soil, murrum and crushed stone.

The system records where mining is allowed and how much material is taken.

It also tracks vehicles carrying the minerals.

Digital permits, GPS, drones and online payments are part of the system.

Officials say this can help stop cheating and protect government revenue.

The state collected about Rs 16,000 crore in the last five years.

It hopes to collect Rs 25,000 crore in the next five years.
