Awarapan 2 Nets ₹72.90 Crore Worldwide, Trails Only Raaz 3
Awarapan 2 is a brand new Bollywood movie and a sequel to an old favorite from 2007 that many people loved.
It stars Emraan Hashmi, a famous actor, who is back in a very popular character role.
In just its first two days, the movie made a huge amount of money at the box office.
It earned more than 72 crore rupees around the whole world.
Most of that money came from movie theaters in India.
It also did well in other countries, especially in the Middle East and North America.
People in smaller cities and towns especially came out to see the movie.
It has already made more money than two of Emraan Hashmi's older films.
Only one of his old movies, Raaz 3, has earned more.
Emraan Hashmi also said there might be a third Awarapan movie in the future.
Fans came because of fond memories, great music, and seeing their favorite star again.
Awarapan 2 crossed the ₹72.90 crore worldwide gross mark within its first two days, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film reported an India gross of ₹66.90 crore and an overseas collection of ₹6 crore over the two days.
Awarapan 2's India net collections stood at ₹55.75 crore, with ₹22 crore on opening day and ₹33.75 crore on Saturday.
It surpassed the lifetime collections of Emraan Hashmi's Jannat 2 (₹66 crore) and Murder 2 (₹70 crore); only Raaz 3 (₹102 crore) remains ahead.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the sequel stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky, with Hashmi hinting at Awarapan 3.
The film performed strongly in single-screen theatres across tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with overall Hindi occupancy of around 55% on its first Sunday.
The Middle East and North America were its strongest international territories, with over $650K from international markets.
