Marcin Patrzalek and Rishab Sharma Unite in Spontaneous Jam
Marcin Patrzalek is a guitarist from Poland, and Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is a sitar player from India.
They met at a famous family music shop in Delhi.
They decided to play music together without practicing first.
Each musician brought one musical piece to the meeting.
They had not heard the other person’s piece before playing.
Their instruments sound different, but both use traditional music in new ways.
The session mixed Western guitar music with Indian classical sitar music.
Their collaboration showed how music can connect people from different countries.
Polish guitarist Marcin Patrzalek and Indian sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma held an unscripted cross-cultural jam session in Delhi.
The meeting took place at Rikhi Ram Music, a boutique instrument store operated by fourth-generation luthier Sanjay Sharma.
The musicians performed two videos: one featuring Sharma’s composition and one featuring Patrzalek’s, without hearing each other’s pieces beforehand.
Patrzalek is touring India for the first time and is known for percussive fingerstyle guitar combining flamenco, classical, rock and electronic elements.
Sharma, the youngest and final disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, promotes Indian classical music through contemporary formats and mental health advocacy.
