Congress MLA Flags Alleged 7% Cut Demand in Mangaluru

A Congress MLA says some government engineers may have been asking contractors for extra money.

He says the amount was 7% of payments for development work.

The alleged demands were linked to the Mangaluru division of KRIDL.

He also said contractors were threatened if they refused.

The MLA wrote to Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and asked for action.

BJP leader R Ashoka also demanded that the engineers be suspended and investigated.

The claims have not been established as facts in the report.

Officials would need to investigate whether corruption occurred.
