Kurnool Prepares for Pulse Polio Drive
The district collector in Kurnool has told doctors and health workers to make sure every child under five gets a polio vaccine on December 21.
There will be 1,600 places to get the vaccine, plus teams that will go to busy spots like train stations.
The collector also talked about problems in hospitals, like not enough doctors and cleanliness issues.
She told the doctors to fix these problems and check on things twice a week.
The goal is to make sure no child misses the vaccine and that hospitals work better.
District Collector Dr A Siri instructed health authorities to ensure 100% vaccination coverage for 3,52,164 children under five during the Pulse Polio drive on December 21.
The Collector reviewed public feedback on hospital functioning, highlighting concerns over doctor availability, medicine supply, patient referrals, and sanitary conditions.
Directives were issued to PHC and UPHC medical officers to remain accessible, provide medicines within facilities, prevent staff from collecting money from patients, and conduct review meetings twice a week.
PHCs with fewer than five deliveries a month were instructed to strengthen services to ensure a minimum of ten deliveries.
Elaborate arrangements for the Pulse Polio programme include 1,600 vaccination booths, 52 Polio Transit Points, and 63 mobile teams at key public locations.
