WPL 2026 Auction: Teams Prioritize Experience
The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction was very exciting.
Teams like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Gujarat Giants bought and kept players for their teams.
They spent a lot of money on experienced players like Deepti Sharma, Amelia Kerr, and Sophie Devine.
Some young Indian players did not get bought, which was sad.
The teams are now ready for the next season with strong players.
Deepti Sharma was the most expensive buy at ₹3.2 Crore, going back to UP Warriorz.
Mumbai Indians bought Amelia Kerr for ₹3 Crore and retained core players like Harmanpreet Kaur.
Delhi Capitals added Laura Wolvaardt for ₹1.1 Crore and retained Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.
UP Warriorz made the most of their large purse, adding 18 players including Meg Lanning for ₹1.9 Crore.
Several uncapped Indian players, including Vaishnavi Sharma and Humairaa Kaazi, went unsold.
